Board of Directors

Linda Hoxie-Green is the Board President. She and her husband, Ron Green, were both educators in Portland for 30+ and 40+ years respectively. Hoxie-Green also served on the Portland Board of Education for 11 years. After such a distinguished career in Portland, Hoxie-Green considers all Portland students to be "her students." She values serving on the Foundation as a means to reaching that goal.

Erin (Ferris) Weller is the Board Vice President. Erin and her husband, Jason, are both lifelong residents of Portland. Their two young boys are active in many sports, so you may see Erin in town cheering loudly. Erin volunteered as a cheerleading coach for Portland Junior Raiders, Portland Middle School, and Portland High School for over 9 years. In addition, Erin has helped numerous individuals in the community, as she is an attorney previously with Hoort Law, PLLC and later her own firm, Weller Law, PLLC. Community involvement and giving back are very important to Erin. She is excited to support the Portland Foundation for Public Education and its meaningful mission.

Jonathan Bair is the Board’s Treasurer. Jonathan moved to Portland 10 years ago when he marriedhis wife, Tammy (Hillis) Bair, a lifelong resident and graduate of Portland. Jonathan and Tammy have 4 children who are either currently enrolled or graduated from PPS. Jonathan has volunteered in the past with the Portland Main Street program and is an active member of the Portland Civic Players, having most recently played the part of Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls. He and his family enjoy camping throughout the year and are currently making graduation plans for their PPS senior.

Doug Logel Jr. serves as the Board’s Secretary. Doug and his wife Amy have 3 children in PPS. Doug is a lifelong resident of Portland; his father Doug Sr. graduated from PPS. Doug is a local business owner and heavily invested in our community. He volunteers his time as secretary of the Portland Community Fund, helps with Portland Backpacks for Bellies, is a former firefighter and School Board member. Doug enjoys sitting on the sidelines cheering on his kids at various activities and attending as many concerts as possible. If you see him out in the community, please feel free to ask him about the good things the Foundation is doing and how you can help support the kids and teachers of Portland Public Schools

Diana (Spitzley) Graef serves as a Trustee on the Foundation’s Board. Diana and her husband Dan have two sons in Portland Public Schools. Diana is a graduate of Portland Public Schools and is heavily invested in our community. Diana works for Portland Public Schools, serves on athletic committees, and volunteers with organizations. In her free time, Diana enjoys attending sporting events, concerts, and spending time at the lake. When you see Diana in the community, please feel free to ask about the Foundation and how you can help support the students and staff of Portland Public Schools.

Angela (Brown) Shinaver serves as a trustee for the Foundation’s Board. Angela, and her husband Thomas, have raised two Portland Raiders, Hannah (2019 graduate) and Braden (PHS student), along with Thomas’s 3 adult children. In addition, 3 of her grandchildren are students at Oakwood, and they will provide many more years of enjoyment in supporting our “littlest Raiders.” Angela is a lifelong Portland resident and is eager to find new ways to help support the students and staff of Portland Public Schools. Angela serves on the Portland Board of Education as the vice president and enjoys volunteering at the elementary schools and Portland Backpack for Bellies. Angela and her family enjoy camping, traveling, and attending sporting events. Angela is excited to be able to be a part of this dedicated group of individuals and is looking forward to continuing to find ways to help the students and staff of PPS.

Dave Warner serves as a Trustee on the Foundation’s Board. Dave is a graduate of Portland Public Schools and has been a lifelong resident of Portland. Dave and his wife Monica spend their time raising two kids and enjoy chasing them around sporting events. In his free time Dave enjoys coaching youth sports, camping, and spending time with family. If you see him out in the community, please feel free to ask him about what the Foundation is doing and how you can help support the kids of Portland Public Schools.

Joe Polasek is currently serving as a Trustee on the Foundation’s board. Joe’s wife, Chandra, has taught at Portland High School since 2010, and shortly after that, the Polaseks were feeling the “Portland Pull.” Joe and his family moved to Portland in 2017. The Polaseks have three children, all attending Portland Public Schools. Joe loves camping, hiking, family trips, and grilling for friends and family. Joe has volunteered as a city parks and recreation coach and with the high school Drama Club. The PFPE is a perfect opportunity to join a historically important group in support of our students, teachers, and community. Joe appreciates the support of PPS faculty and staff as the new board looks to continue the legacy of the foundation.

Jennifer Weller Little serves as a Trustee on the Foundation’s Board. Jenni and her husband, Tom, are both Portland High School graduates and have two high school Raiders currently. Jenni is the Office Manager at ESI Heating and Cooling and Tom is an instructor for the State of Michigan. Through the years, she has served as the PTO President, Trustee for PFPE and currently the Concessions Co-Chair for the Portland Athletic Association, while Tom has volunteered his time with the Portland Civic Players and currently leads a book club through their church. Watching their children, as well as their nieces and nephews, participate in sporting events and other extra curricular activities is how they love to spend their spare time.
