The Portland Foundation for Public Education (PFPE) provides grants to support innovative educational opportunities for teachers and students.
Each grant application will be evaluated based on the following criteria, with a focus on alignment with our mission:
Alignment with PFPE’s mission to expand educational programs, activities, or future opportunities for students
Impact and value of the project’s benefits for students
Reach and number of students who will be positively affected
Effectiveness and relevance of the plan to measure project outcomes
Clarity, detail, and appropriateness of the proposed budget
Following review, applicants will be notified of the status of their request. Grant recipients are encouraged to submit a brief summary report upon completion of their project. These reports help inform future applicants and highlight the ongoing impact of PFPE support.
Per Portland Public School Board policy 7230, all tangible items purchased with grant funds remain the property of Portland Public Schools. All awarded funds must be used within one year of the grant award date.
Grant Application Guidelines
Grants may be requested at any time throughout the school year, for any amount, and will be awarded at the discretion of the PFPE based on available funds and the criteria listed above.
The PFPE Board meets on the third Wednesday of each month. Grant applications will be reviewed and voted on during these meetings.
